Our Origin

Starting out as a contractor himself, our Chief Executive Officer established his own contracting company in 2005 after receiving a number of negative experiences with ACT based and national payroll management companies.

“I provided my team of consultants with the payroll service I would want if I was in their place, and after a while other contractors started to ask me to provide the same payroll services to them as an additional service on top of our consulting capability. As a contractor I knew where they were coming from because between when I left the Army and when I started my consulting business I had experienced services from a number of payroll companies.  The trend was that they communicated easily to begin with, but after that there was almost no communication. They regularly failed to pay me on the day that was promised, and when there were issues such as incorrect pay, or no pay at all, you could not contact anyone on the phone to obtain resolution.”

“So I took a risk and started up PayMe. I didn’t pay myself for six to eight months in order to get capital; then the growth kicked in. My underpinning business principle was to look after our contractors the way I wanted to be cared for when I was a contractor.  No answering machines, everyone to answer any telephone call, immediate responses and personal service.   I ensured that my team knew what was necessary to make our service work. If you have a problem, you ring us and we solve it.   Thankfully we have never looked back, and each year we have trebled our turnover.”

Expansion

After consolidating in the ACT, PayMe expanded to deliver national contractor payroll services and this in turn triggered requests for outsourced payroll. We now provide payroll services for permanent, part time, casual and contractor staff, in industries such as oil and gas, information technology, construction, accounting and fashion model management.

PayMe is now experiencing an increased demand from international companies requiring a payroll service for their Australian based employees.

We deliver all services nationally from our office in Canberra, and this reduces costs to our clients and increases our competitive edge because we do not require the overhead of a physical presence in the other capital cities. We overcome the physical presence concern through open and friendly service, monthly reviews with outsourced payroll clients to discuss performance against the SLA, no answering machines and rapid responses.
